Vintage Loveliness ...

… at the Doddington Hall Vintage Fair this weekend
One of my favourite haunts.
Doddington.
As you may have guessed from past posts.

Gorgeous farm shop, cafe, gardens and house …
… with special events held throughout the year.

A beautiful  setting for their first vintage fair.
The Barn.

... dripping in wisteria ....
... over the French doors opening onto the garden ...
... where they served homemade lemonade and cake on the lawn. ..
... how very English.

Only a small fair with twenty stalls selling delectable vintage goodies ...
… but hope it is the start of things to come.

Decorative Country Living was there with their gorgeous stall

As well as Serena and Julie from the Lincoln Fair

The sun was shining.
The sky a deep blue.
And as well as the stalls there was vintage cars

… and a vintage ice-cream van called Betsy.
Prettily festooned in bunting.

Hope you enjoyed your sunny Bank Holiday weekend.

It escapes me ...

Remiss ...
… lax ...
... lacking ...
… pretty much describes me of late.

With my bloggy posts.

I do have  an explanation …..

….. a defence ...
… of sorts.

A bloggy blank.
A blog block …
… whatever it is called.
I think I've got it.
Can’t think of anything to blog about.

Not for the want of trying ...
I have sat fingers poised over keyboard …
… mind focused …
Waiting ...
Nothing.
Zilch.

Does it happen often?

Not been idle ...
Been very busy in fact ...
... time flies.

Have  so many ideas for new projects racing round in my head.
Just not enough time to bring them all to life.
With everyday stuff taking over.

Had a couple weeks of bit-ing and bobbing …
… doing little bits of everything …
… though lots of nothing in particular.

Just piddling little of interest to blog about.
So readers, please forgive me.

After a cold, windy and dismal April …
 ….. bare trees, bleak borders.
A few days of sun changed everything.

The garden burst into life.
The bees were droning, butterflies fluttering ...
... the fields turned a vibrant yellow…
… seemingly overnight.

Trees blossomed …

… delicate scents wafted …
… perennials sprouted, bulbs sprung.
Garden tools came out of hibernation …..
… I was let loose in the local nurseries (fatal) …
… giddy as a kiddy in a sweet shop.

For a while I could be found in the greenhouse or in the garden …
… sweet pea adorned wellies donned …
… digging, weeding, clearing, planting, sowing seeds and generally pottering.

Now we are back to the cold, windy and dismal.
I can be found back in the cottage among paper, needle and thread.

Making my little matchbox books …

… but this time with a soupcon of colour.

And vintage children’s annuals.

Snippets of faded fabric ...
… and little vintage ditty’s.
